FROM PRIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS:  The Boy Scouts of America have announced a recall of a plastic badge that many of our Scouts likely have.  It includes the words "Progress Toward Ranks" and is shown in the picture above.  The yellow paint on the badge may contain lead levels in excess of US Consumer Product Safety Commission standards.

Blue and Gold Dinner

The Annual Blue and Gold Dinner will be held on April 11th

WHERE:  United Church of Christ, 6 Lexington Street, Burlington, MA
WHEN:  Sunday, April 11th, 5:30-7:30pm
DINNER:  Dinner will be provided.
RSVP: Please RSVP to your Den Leaders by March 14th.  Include the number of family members attending in addition to your Scout.

Webelos - Setup at 5pm and Cleanup at 7:30pm (out by 8pm)

Saturday May 15th Cross Over Event

The event to celebrate cubs as they move up in rank.  Once again, this year it will be done in conjunction with Pack 105 of Burlington.  The cross over event is expected to start at 6:30pm at Rahanis Park.

May 15-16 Burlington Scouting Sleep Over

Immediately following the cross over with be the first annual Burlington Cub Scout/Boy Scout sleepover.  Pack 555 and Pack 105 will be camping together.  This event is for Cub Scouts ONLY. A parent or guardian must accompany all cub scouts. Please arrive at the cross over with your tent and overnight gear.  There will be bathrooms available and a campfire.  After the crossover, snacks will be served.  Sunday morning, the pack will provide breakfast.

Sunday May 16th Burlington Scouting Open House

This is a town wide open house and recruitment drive for scouting.  Packs 105, 555 and Troop 103 and 511 will illustrate what scouting is all about.  Scout and non-Scout will have an opportunity to try their hand at adventure stations.  This is a great opportunity for non-Scouts to see what scouting is all about and a great opportunity for Cub Scouts to see what Boy Scouts is all about.

Sunday May 16th 9am to noon at Rahanis Park

At Pack 555, we teach this through structured Den and Pack Meetings filled with educational and fun activities, field trips and hikes, outdoor events and camping, and community service projects like cleaning up our schools and food collections for the needy.

Pack 555 - "Scouting for Food" Drive

All Dens are welcome to participate.

Scouting for Food is a national Scout event aimed at collecting food for the needy.  Participating Scouts will distribute empty bags and grocery lists to houses throughout Bulrington on the first weekend.  On the following weekend, the Scouts will collect the bags filled with groceries which will then be donated to the Burlington Food Pantry.

Announcing the Pack Overnight at Old Sturbridge Village

Only 100 Spots are available!  RSVP now to reserve your spot!

April 24th-25th.

An exciting new overnight adventure designed for scouts in grades 1st-5th. Join in hands-on activities, prepare a 19th century snack on an open hearth, and engage in entertainment from long ago. 

The program begins at 6:30pm on the 24th and concludes at 9am on the 25th. During the day, explore the historic village on your own.

Your $50 registration fee (per person whether a Scout or an adult) includes an evening snack, continental breakfast, and 2-day museum admission.  You will need to bring your own sleeping gear and will be spending the night in their Museum Education Building.

2010 Pinewood Derby Results

Special thanks to Bill Dexter for managing the races, Mr. Rousseau for running the kitchen, Shanika (and her friend) and Nadia for donating their time in the kitchen, the Pizza Works of Burlington for donating ALL of the Pizza (http://www.pizzaworksonline.com, the parents who donated the baked goods, Joe Fucci (our fearless cubmaster) for donating the trophies, Troop 511 for the Best Design awards, the Den Leaders for organizing things so well, our friends in the Pits, the Kids for being so well behaved and INTO the races :-), the parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, and friends for cheering everyone on, and finally, thanks to everyone who donated their time to help set up and clean up!  Race day went as smoothly as it possibly could have.

Congratulations to all of the winners from the Pack 555 Pinewood Derby held on Saturday March 6th.  The Den Winners will receive further information about participating in the District Championships.

Pack 555 in the News

Francis Wyman Playground Cleanup - The 3/13/09 Francis Wyman Bulletin (click here) included a thank you at the top to Pack 555 for cleaing up the playground. The Webelos had removed several bags of trash and a broken office chair. An old car battery that was found by the Scouts was removed by the leaders.

Pie Collection '08 - There was a letter to the Editor in the 12/24 Burlington Union from People Helping thanking everyone (including Pack 555) for their support this past November.  Click here for the letter.

Veterans Day Ceremony '08 - Article appeared in the Burlington Union with a picture of several of our Scouts.  Click here for the story. 

Francis Wyman Fall Cleanup '08 - The 10/24/08 Francis Wyman Bulletin (click here) included a section from the PTO thanking the volunteers who helped to rake and clean up the grounds. The 2nd paragraph on the front page in the section "From the PTO" mentions the members of Pack 555 who contributed.  Thanks to all! 

Minuteman Hike '08 - There was a story in the 10/16/08 Burlington Union about the October 5th Hike arranged by Den Leader Gerald Beuchelt for Packs 555 and 105 (the other Cub Scout Pack in town).  Click here for the story.
